About Rønde Højskole

Have a map and you can see that we are centrally placed in Denmark: Rønde Højskole is situated in Djursland, on the rim of the beautiful hills of Mols, close to Kalø and the bay of Aarhus. In other words a landscape which gives you rich opportunity to go sightseeing and hiking. Within a distance of 25 km you can reach Aarhus. Busses depart every half hour. Within the same distance you can go by ferries in Grenaa and Ebeltoft.

Do you want to know more about us? Rønde Højskole stands for a liberated and up to date Christian outlook. Being a "højskole" all our teaching is based on your interest to learn. We have no exams, but at the end of a course you will get a diploma to certify which subject you have followed.

We shall try, with common efforts, to build up an atmosphere of togetherness, challenges from the outer society, the necessity to take a personal decision, and the importance af engagement will be taken into consideration. The teaching is based on dialogue and talk, the living word as Grundtvig introduced it. The atmosphere is dominated by intensity and liveliness. We offer a wide range of subject matters, but our primary goal is to see connections and to educate our students for life.

An old school dressed in up-to-date clothes. Rønde Højskole is more than 100 years old. In the year of 1897 the school was founded on a platform of church and popular movements in the local area. In 1970 the physical room became too narrow and new buildings were erected. At the same time a more free and variegated outlook on man took place. Today, we have plenty of room and space. We can offer our students modern facilities. The students' rooms are equipped with toilet, shower and a balcony. On the balcony you have a splendid prospect out into the countryside. We have up-to-date teaching rooms, laboratories, a music house, auditorium and a gymnasium for sporting activities.
